At that point, the question becomes if Schaum has been profiting off of the server. How would I be profiting from spending my money, and how would someone who is making that trade be making a profit? Of course, that's not the real issue here.
Casinos should not be banned. I rarely participated in any casino, and to be honest, I had plans of eventually opening my own pre-reset. It's something of interest for players to build and, when done properly, can add some amusement for most involved.
Have the redstone-savvy staff members moderate casinos and have guidelines in place (example - have a threshold on what the odds can be). Don't be lazy and ban casinos, let players enjoy themselves while ensuring that the casinos are done responsibly.

Wether it's a scratch off ticket you or maybe your parents buy. Maybe it's that arcade game in the front of a reastrunt or a arcade in general. If you have ever touched a console or pc game you also see gambling everywhere! Call of duty, forza, NBA, and much more games kids play on every day it's all over! That's the point I was making haha, there are regulations in place that restrict the age at which people can be exposed to that. Games that include mature concepts, including gambling, do not have a family friendly rating. They sport a rating of at least Teen. And since this is a family friendly server, with a supposed G rating, that is in violation of it.

(No offense to Schaum)
In reality the "micro"transactions like the Epic is introducing kids to the addictive world of micro transactions...hem hem mobile games hem hem. Gambling is only gambling if you make it out to be bad....if its just having fun with Redstone then....just let the creators be. Its Minecraft.

Gambling machines doesn't involve real money, so I don't see much harm. If kids wish to gamble, they risk it, and they have to earn their diamonds back from hardwork of mining or grinding, and learn their lesson from the mistake they made for being addictive to gambling. Meh, even my friends spent their lunch money just to collect the best YuGiOh card back when we were kids

While that may be a good implementation, there could be cases where there might be elytra as a prize. You can't necessarily put a threshold on odds when there may be small prizes or big prizes for which there would be better or worse odds. Additionally, I'd like the point out that the poll is split around 50/50, give or take a few votes. This seems too close to make a decision off of this. Set up a polling station in-game for all those that don't have forums accounts. However, I do agree that there is room for some casino regulating, but an all-out ban is not warranted. Gambling is a significant aspect of redstoning, and a great way to entertain others. In my opinion, there should only be some regulations at most. Give people the freedom to do what they want with redstone provided they don't lag out the server. At the SWC, we have put countless hours forward in planning, preparation and the creation of our fine establishment, and we would hate to see it all go to waste.

Hi Kobra here! I usually don’t post on the forums but I am rather active in chat and general community. Having seen the discussion, I see major common threads on both sides, which boils down to the main issue: morality. However, it’s a video game using digital currency that can easily be recovered in a short time. Diamonds are 2 a day and there are pleanty of other ways to obtain them as well as offering services or perhaps starting their own casino. Sure it’s easy to get into the craze and squander all your diamonds, but if it’s a question of morality, rules and regulations as well as check ups on the machines seems sufficient enough to cover the moral dilemma that has been brought up. Keep in mind that the same players who oppose this or lose diamonds to in-game gambling also have ample opportunity to create their own casinos or gambling games. Whether you like them or not, I would agree that banning them all together seems overall lazy and destroys the opportunity to create profitable games and entertain an audience. Stakes/stats posted like he way shops place prices, regulations, and checkups will solve all moral dilemmas. Thanks for your time

I would like to say even though I don't use casinos much, I don't think they should be banned. Maybe have like a limet to odds so it's not stacked against players and even though gambling is bad, I don't think this will lead to rl gambling. Ppl know that DBs are a fake currency with no rl value thus not rlly caring if they lose some, while money in rl is what keeps you alive by getting you food shelter water ect. it's not the casino owners falt if the mc player dosent know the difference between real money and pixelated diamonds

I think there is a pretty decent solution to satisfy both sides here.
Allow for a maximum stake of 1 diamond and a general gambling disclaimer written by staff placed by the machine on 1-2 signs. This is pretty easy to moderate assuming that players are made well aware of this rule, people can report instances where this rule is not held up as it is in plain sight, whereas the 'scamming' aspect is not visible. A maximum stake of 1 diamond means that players cant exactly lose a lot very easily.. yet the fun aspect of both playing with the machines and also making the machines is still maintained.
The disclaimer would be something like: 'This machine is for gambling purposes. Anything staked is your own choice and may not result in any return. Staff will not replace anything staked or lost.'
If you want to take it a step further, you could give out licencing to certain people, groups or machines. This would just be a book signed by a staff member saying this person/group/machine is legitimate. Any violation of written guidelines on gambling machines/casinos would result in a loss of licencing from staff. Buuuut thats probably way too far from what you want.
I do not think that a flat ban is a good idea. Like people have stated, it is fun, something that should not be restricted much on a game. Sure it comes with issues but there is usually a way to work through them.

Jim, while I agree with putting disclaimers at casino's (which we have very visible at the main entrance) I don't agree with making a limit to what a player can stake. Certain machines like an elytra gambler, or something where you have a chance to win something very valuable would then have odds around 1/432 (assuming elytra is worth 48 dbs) which would be much less fun for the individuals.

Then I wish you luck. My suggestion was a compromise.. Schaum and the staff have all the power and leverage here so it would be best for you if you could work out a solution that satisfies both sides. Considering this post was made, which shows people aren't happy with the current system and the poll is relatively even/ against you, I'd say you are losing that right now. I'm 100% with you otherwise, I want you to be able to create whatever you want on the server, doesn't effect me in the slightest. GL x

Anyways, thanks for the good wishes!

Hi, We wanted to get the opinions of players to see if anyone thinks casinos and gambling machines should be banned. The reason we would want to ban them is because a lot of times they could be a scam, although we have rules that require odds to be posted and the machines be checked by mods, we can't always be sure they are as reliable as advertised. Under the current rules, it is bannable to scam with gambling machines, but still it can be hard to track, and younger players are deceived many times too. The reason we would want to keep them allowed is because fun games and other redstone contraptions built to be used by other players can sometimes rely on gambling machines, which would be one of the downsides of this. Note: This poll does not directly effect the outcome of casinos being banned. We just want to see the communities opinions. EDIT: Poll will close in 4 days I can't find where casino machines are in the rules. Can you point it out to me? I would like to make sure all of our machines are up to standard! Thanks!

If a player has a run of bad luck and loses a lot of diamonds/blocks he/she calls on the staff to help them get back what they lost. If we see that the machine is working fairly that player then blames the staff for not helping him/her. A toxic atmosphere then is created by the player and chat becomes very unpleasant.
I honestly would like to avoid this mess, so I am in favor of banning casinos.
