Hey, everyone. I’ll try to keep this short and let the surveys speak for themselves. On behalf of the staff team, I would like to see how you all are feeling about the server as a whole. While this was intended to be shared before the reset, it seems more important now than ever. There has been a significant increase in toxicity among players and between players and staff in the past few months. A lot of accusations have surfaced, arguments, new players essentially being chased off the server, misunderstandings regarding the rules, all of these creating an overall bitter environment. This is not the Safe Survival I know. In the past, I’d proudly brag about how great the community is and encourage new players to hang out, make themselves at home because that’s what the server’s been for me - a second home. I hate to see so many players feel like they aren’t welcome here. The reset brought up a lot of bad feelings, which very well may explain the spike in hostility. In an effort to combat this, we’re working on some projects in an attempt to make up for it to the best of our ability. Understandably, these things take time. We may not be able to completely make it all better. We’re here to help and make your experience the best it can be. Contrary to what some may believe, we are not the enemy nor have we ever intended to be. With this in mind, I’ve created two surveys (one focusing on the server, the other focusing on the staff team) to try to get a feel for what we’re doing well with and what we’re slacking on. These are, of course, optional but your honest opinions will help improve the server in the long-run so I strongly encourage filling them out. This is an opportunity to speak your mind, no judgment, no argument. Just being listened to. Note that the questions are designed to eliminate as much bias as possible but there are open-ended questions included as well. For the sake of preventing multiple responses per person, the surveys require logging into a Google account. As much as I would love to have it completely public, I do not want to risk multiple responses that could skew the data. Your e-mail will not be recorded, we will not see it. Thank you for taking your time to read this and complete our surveys (if you have done so). Surveys are now closed! Thank you for your participation.

Hey, are we allowed to post like large responses on here that the survey can't handle?

Hey, are we allowed to post like large responses on here that the survey can't handle? Go for it! Anything the survey didn't/can't cover completely is welcome here.

I'm glad that you put this up there. I would agree with Nick. Very much needed.

Hey, are we allowed to post like large responses on here that the survey can't handle? Go for it! Anything the survey didn't/can't cover completely is welcome here. Thank you Really the only thing I thought was missing from the survey was a section on Event based stuff. I think the main problem with the server, as it has been for awhile, is that there are no long term goals to work towards besides voting. Which in itself gets tedious and boring after glorious rank. Couple that with the fact that there is no current way for normal players to build lasting goal based systems for players to work towards and all of the creative power ends up with the staff team. I'm long removed from my old opinion that ALL staff should be building things for the server. I'll use you as an example Shadow. You are fantastic in your role as a moderator and in my opinion should be the next person promoted to the admin role. One of the reasons that I think you excel in the role is that you spend so much time helping people with their problems on the server and (i may be wrong, im not as informed as i used to be lol) don't really concern yourself with building things for the server. So we end up with players going through the normal minecraft motions for a couple months. Build your base, build up your inventory, get to a high voting rank and then you basically exist on a server that doesn't incentivize you for building things that the community as a whole can work towards. So you get bored and don't really have anything to do except sit in chat, which ineviatably ends in some form of toxicity for the server. Without the ability for normal players to build things for the community and some staff being excellent in their roles as helpers and moderators of the server all off the creative outlets are now placed on the "Event Staff's" shoulders. Now while recently they have built some interesting minigames to keep the community entertained (spleef, pig fighting, etc), that sort of entertainment only lasts for so long as well. If the focus of the Event staff was placed on building progression based systems and challenges for the community to work towards, either individually or as a community as a whole, people would have things to do after they got past the initial points I referenced earlier. Even better would be some form of incentives for normal players to build such things. Even if you build a really great thing that the community can use (I'll selfishly use "Treasure Hunts" as an example), there is no precedent of a players creations being implemented in the servers gameplay. Either through a direct warp to the creation or some sort of rare custom prize given to the winners of a creation. Rewarding players that choose to build these things, or rewarding players that end up completing these things would give players an outlet of creativity or at the very least something else to work towards. I think with the implementation of these ideas, players wouldn't drift towards toxicity and the overall community of the server would improve because we would all have something to work on or towards.

I'm going to do this here, if you don't mind shadow.
- New Server admin. this 100% needs to happen.
- Staff need more clarification, and more guidelines on how to act. I recently ran into a situation where 2 staff members acted completely different to what was going on. Staff need something to go off of, as they pretty much have to go from their head.
- Staff need more permissions.
- New thread for more in depth discussion on what is right or wrong. e.g what specifically in terms of swearing is allowed, and not allowed.
- Suggestions really need to be taken more seriously. I feel like they don't get the attention they need by the owner, and thus die.
- Spawn needs a bit of a makeover in my opinion. the use of fountains is a bit old now. However, considering staff had to build this within such a short time period, they did extremely well. That being said, I feel like either it needs to be expanded or (Controversially) moved to a new big area, which I can guarantee players won't like, though its for the best (including me, since I have a big claim at spawn). Last maps spawn size was about perfect.
- New staff titles. I feel like its all over the place, and there is no specification on what each staff member can do, and if they are promoted to one or the other. I suggest something like this: Helper (Chat mod), Assistant mod, mod, Head mod, Admin/s.
- We have event staff yes, but we really need builders. Since everything has been wiped, we need new people who know how to build to bring back all the builds we loved e.g Event centre, OG PVP ect
- Vote rewards. New fair vote rewards, with not too OP items. Same goes with DP's. No more G rods please.
- So many more events and challenges. Last map players had gained so much, that there was pretty much nothing to do. Things like Ily's maze, which was amazing by the way, needs to be implemented more, with a prize at the end. Not something huge, but something such as a special head. Something more cosmetic perhaps. For example, why not make non-survival items a thing? e.g you win 1 bedrock that you can use in /hat.
- Talking about EULA, there needs to be a head market, since now ranks must follow EULA. Instead of players just gaining DB and getting bored due to a lack of activities, heads with rarity should be introduced. Tier I, II, III heads that you can build upon. Every month raffles can be drawn for certain players, and they can win a super rare head. Every month, people should be able to show off their collections and winners can gain different heads. This suggestion, I absolutely love. People can gain heads from donating (of course not too rare heads), winning event games, buying raffle tickets and more.
I might update this soon, talking about toxicity and the community, but thats what I can think of for now.

I wasn't done with filling out the survey and then I ended up pressing a button that "completed" the survey even though I wasn't done. Oh well.

If I can post this here...
I've had this feeling for awhile that there are issues within the staff. Just from posts I've read and things I've seen. Idk if that's still a thing, and idk how much of it is driven by not having the ability to do/fix certain things. I do know that if the staff aren't unified and are arguing there's not going to be peace for the server. If staff can't trust each other, players aren't going to trust staff.
Just an observation.

#CycleOfToxicityRound5or6 Yeah this happens a lot, it sucks. According to my calculations, it should resolve itself a month or so after toxicity levels peak, great to see that the community is working to fix it

Honestly even now it's much better than it used to be, I think all the suggestions in this thread would just improve the server
