Hello, folks.
This thread is meant more for awareness and a warning more than anything else. Hopefully, we can all have some civilized and non-aggressive conversations without trolls rather than full-out conflict.
In these past few... months of moderating and just being another player on Safe Survival, I've noticed that there's an immense amount of harassment/bullying towards certain players. Usually, this happens when the player has done something wrong, immature, or all of the above and more. Sometimes, an "important figure" may lead this; other times, it's just decided amongst players that they go attack the person verbally. Either way, it leads to weeks and months of torment for the victim as the entire server decides to pick on them.
The issue with this is, it's cyber bullying! You all may think that you're only joking around and heck, this is only Minecraft, but you also need to understand that you're talking to other people. The person you may be "joking around" with may seem like they're fine with it, but that's not necessarily the case. Many of those people that you bully have low self-esteems and don't know when to speak up. In fact, they try to cope with it, thinking it'll help them fit in or be better liked.
I understand most of these problems occur outside of Minecraft. People talk through Skype, Discord, etc. Therefore, I can't tell you what to do. However, some of this leaks into public chat. I've seen many instances where people will start publicly humiliating (in chat) whomever the victim may be, and think it's fine because they're all in call and having a "good time". Sadly, that's not how everyone feels, and you will be rightfully punished for whatever may even hint to harassment towards another player. Also, going back to conversation mainly happening outside of Minecraft, that still doesn't give you any right to verbally assault others. It just goes to show poor personality and cowardice.
Now, I'm not calling myself a saint by writing this thread. I've certainly said some things out of rage and hatred towards people (which I profusely apologize for. Privately message me if we need to talk). However, after a nice break and change of thoughts, I'm definitely going to try and change by not singling out people and bullying them in front of everyone else (or just anywhere for that matter). I hope you all do the same because it's really difficult for players to have to get online everyday and see hate comments directed towards them.
Thanks for the read!

I haven't been here long, but I've noticed the same thing. I appreciate you posting this, especially considering the possible backlash. I will try my best to ensure that others are referred to this post and that bullying of specific players ceases.

Yeah I had made a thread similar to this a couple weeks ago but it kinda died out, thanks for making a more official one so it can be more easily brought to the attention of the general public. My friend has left because of how the community has changed. Over the past couple of months since 1.8 the community has grown a bit more toxic and unfriendly so clicks started to develop which he felt violated the spirit of Safe Survival and lost interest. Part of it he said was that there was an "upper player" click that the mods seemed to favor in that he found a tower dedicated each of the mods for each floor. Then if I remember correctly it was either the mods or Schuam gave them a really unique super option item called like cocaine or something that gave an immense amount of speed. They were then told to keep it hush hush to the rest of the server but the rumor of the new item spread anyway. My friend believed this showed favoritism among the mods to the players and that was the deciding factor that made him leave. He also was making a floating island base that would have a monument dedicated to each mod with the monuments being themed based on the mod and then there would be a mod head on an armor stand at the base of it to represent the mod. Amrou however was the only one to take up the offer... (btw I don't have anything against the mods I think u guys are great, just that everyone makes mistakes sometimes)

It was frustrating to see it not get as much attention, or have people change a bit from it at the least. I'm actually in the same position as you. Someone I know on the server may quit due to these very issues and maybe even more, so I decided another thread could help.

Clicks have started to develop too I have noticed which is never a good thing.

Thank you for this.
This happens to me from time to time, but for me to complain about it would be stupid as I have done the same a few times.

I completely agree with you, Aka. Lately there has been some harassment towards other players. I don't want to say any names, but I remember days when I would log on skype, and someone would be trying to call me. And when I answered, they just started tearing up about something going on in Safe Survival. Like Aka said, it is cyber-bullying and IS a crime. Just be aware that you really can ruin someone's life. You don't know some of these people, and I wouldn't try to test and see what they would do. You just never know. Thank you for addressing this Aka.

I must say that I agree with this. It does appear that the server is becoming less and less friendly. The other thread, I must note, talked about how the server in 1.8 was all about community and groups of friends. But since 1.10, heck even 1.9, there hasn't been as much friendliness. Things have happened, and a few times, I was at the center of it, and it's been terrible. As most people are doing, I'm not naming names, but collectively, everyone needs to get along.

It has gotten to be not so friendly in the few months I've been here. I've stepped into conversations several times when I thought things were going overboard. There are a couple people I just feel protective over, just from a mom standpoint. Some of the convos I've seen were downright nasty, and that is not ok. This whole thing some people have going on is not cool. There are a few players that I would just dump if I were the owner, but I'm not. So they stay. And they pick on people mercilessly. I've even been in the receiving end of it a few times. And it's not cool. And tonight I found out that we are losing some valuable players due to the bullying, and that's not cool either. And my guess is, the toxic ones don't even read these forums, so we are stuck with trying to correct this behavior ingame.
Personally, I would like to see the mods take more of a proactive role in making this a more friendly server again. When we see something that isn't right, don't join in; make it stop. For example a few days ago, a friend of mine was being teased nonstop about whatever the bully was teasing them about. I said something, and then the mob turned on me, then went back to my friend. It eventually stopped but I don't think it made my friend feel very good, and I hated that there wasn't much I could do for them, and I hated that no one else stood up for my friend either, at least not when I was watching the chat. Maybe someone said something privately.
And I believe it was last night when someone said something about a player being a candidate for mod. And I said something. And actually had to explain why it was that I said something. Like, in what world is it OK to just insult someone? Donald Trump can do it, so why can't I? No. Not cool. That's grade school stuff. We are better than that. And we have to make others be better than that because we deserve better than that. Our server deserves better than that. No one is going to want to stay if we continue to allow the toxic, rude, unruly bullies to dominate the server the way they have been the last few months.

I'm terribly sorry that you were put through this. Over these last few days, I have not seen any severe cases of attacks against players, so this leads me to think we may be going on at different times. If problems like this ever happen, let me know through private messages and I'll try to resolve the problem by rightfully punishing the player or finding some middle ground depending on the situation at hand. Hopefully, through strict and constant moderation, we could at least resolve these sorts of issues.

I'll agree that the bullying needs to be stopped, but so far from what I've seen, you guys are taking the wrong course of action about it. I have very strong views on this.. but wont post them in public as to not cause a commotion.
