WOW! A play on words goes over everyone's heads. "the beatings will continue until morale improves" I just took it and twisted it a little to fit the situation here. If this is considered toxic and aggressive, then yeah, moving this towards a mature audience server isn't going to go smoothly, at all. But I was suggesting rather bluntly that mods stop apologising for modding and just 'go hard'. Some have already been doing that, that's part of the reason why this thread was created if I'm correct. Some moderators think too fast before doing their job, and too loosely in other circumstances. As I said in an earlier post to this thread, everyone is human and we all make mistakes, but it's getting to the point where some small things are getting worse punishments than larger things.

Id like my friends to be themselves, not this watered down version of fun you are aiming for. Noble this is your last warning. If you can't contribute without attacking a player, I will ban you from the forums for a couple hours. Please keep the conversation constructive.

I completely agree with this, we are still trying to figure out a better warning/punishment system that tiers correctly.

IF everything gets reset with the view that this isn't a family friendly server, how much of those previous issues disappear?

No offense SunSeek, but I feel as if you want moderators to be more harsh with moderations than they already are. Noble has a point where there's watered down fun, and actual fun, I personally love the kind of freedom he's talking about. If my assumption about what you're saying is incorrect, I'm sorry.

Players can be themselves instead of pretending that Cting like a child is fun. This idea was also not stand alone. The sensitivity of our player base effects other areas. Mods get in trouble for power abuse when they are just having fun like spawning boats at spawn. Or when they get in trouble for not screen capping ban evidence. Players get in trouble for things like fanfiction, swearing, or talking about their real lives. Language is only a part of the larger issue. Our player base shouldn't be guaranteed a right to sensitivity.

I'm not even sure what your assumption is. It's not layed out that I've seen. But if this server is going to go towards a more mature audience, yes you are going to need harsh moderators. Why? Because everything that's been going on here in SS, with the chat and players pushing the line is going to be worse before it even gets better.

I don't think the level of maturity will necessarily lead to higher aggression. Just better informal expression. As well as i would remind you that it was in the over arching theme of maturity Nd desensitization.

I'm not sure what fanfiction has got to do with SS but if it's what I've been seeing in local chat, it's rather annoying. Swearing is against the rules. I don't quite get what you mean about talking about real lives, but again if it's in local chat, move to private chat. I don't understand what kind of server you've got envisioned here. But I'm not advocating for a right to sensitivity.

We are clearly in complete opposition here. And no those things arnt big issues. I personally got lagged out. I couldn't go to spawn for a long time. But so many players had such a good time doing it... i don't believe it is in our right to take those moments away.

Oh. Anarchy.
Well, as long as there are rules, there are going to be restrictions on what 'fun' can be had. Can the player base accept the rules as stated and can they accept the consequences of those rules?
If yes to both, great! No issues. Continue having fun. If no, then we get long threads just like this one.
Are the rules fair?
Are the consequences of the rules fair?
Have the mods been fair?
Once all that's been answered, discussed and evaluated, life goes on.
But rules do keep things fun. It might seem a little hard to believe but it does. At times it might suck a little that you don't get to do all those cool ideas you've got. But that's the trade-off of being in a community instead of dealing with anarchy.

If no, then we get long threads just like this one. I would like to say that this thread was created with the full intention to always be open as a channel for direct communication with the mod team.
