Lol, where do you even get a curse of binding pumpkin? I want one ;D Does the curse of binding come in enchantment book form now too? 
/replaceitem entity @p slot.armor.head leather_helmet should work I think. Schaum can just throw it in a command block and activate it with you standing next to the command block.
I just tested it and it works in singleplayer.

Maybe set the durability of the helmet to 1 or something, so that as soon as it is hit it breaks. That would make the helmet useless.
