Honestly, I think it was a good thing. Many might've left because they feel that they can't catch up with the richest people on the server, but now we can all get a fresh start. And believe me, I poured days upon days on playing minecraft just on this server. I lost mod on a server because of the fun I was having on here! It got REALLY boring after a while, but this revived this for me. Also, everyone stop whining about the server reset. It happened and complaining won't save your old base. Have a good day. EDIT: Read BlingCake's response, makes much more sense.

I like it since I get a fresh, new start and everyone is even. It would've been nice though if it wasn't such short notice.

There are two sides to eevery story.
On the one hand, the reset allowed a new beginning new life. Like for me, I was just someone who could never decide on what he wanted to do on the server. Now I have a chance to start over and make a new life.
On the other, the accident wiped out years of work, such as SWC, or Ultra's palace. It can shatter people, causing them to leave, and hate the great server. But that is one of the reactions. Another is that we get a fresh start, or an old beginning. Like Ultra, he just didn't care from what I can see and went right back to building his palace. Others are following in the same path. It allows new communities, for people to be on equal level, unlike before, when players were treated as old and new. Now people are back, such as workclock (wb).
P.S. There really is no reason for you to tell people to stop complaining about losing their bases or builds etc. Something happened that they had no control over, and it saddens them to see everything crumble. In conclusion everyone has an opinion on the reset, and to make all the choices for the poll will take forever.

I mean, it was either a reset or no server, so there’s that. Personally, I am happy that it reset, as I was getting very bored.

I personally am enjoying the restart as not only has the number of players on daily skyrocketed, it also has provided a fresh start for me, and I can begin anew figuring out how to design my base and rebuild my farms/infrastructure to be even better than before.

Honestly, who cares if it makes it "fair" for the new people? It's more about the ones that got screwed helped make the server noticed in the lists and we're just getting a big middle finger for something that really should not have happened considering all the money that has come from donations. Stop acting like there is no reason to be disappointed about this or that it's not big deal. Those that lost their rank have already achieved what the server decided was necessary for those rewards and are being told it must be done again. Basically, twice the votes for the same rewards. Is that really fair?

Yeah so I wrote this when I thought "OH this will be ez to get mah stuff back" but know I realize its super hard and I see why ppl are VERY upset now lol some had Legend and I bet that was hard for them to lose. What I was trying to say was that ppl should move on after a while cuz idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ shoulda known ppl are smarter than me and provide more intelligent comebaks

Is that really fair? There is a reason reset buttons are used in other games. And delete player. And delete save file. And so on. Just because you think that it was really bad "a middle finger" doesn't mean that its bad for everybody. And saying that nobody cares that new players get more chances is as far from the truth as you could possibly get. It allows room for more great people to join the fray, and allow us to see past their Recruit tags, since many people are now Recruits.

Really, it's done and we can't go back so all this isn't super helpful, however I don't think this reset (the way it happened) could ever be classified as a good thing. Maybe there were a lot of people who wanted a reset in general because they were unhappy with being on a server where some players had more than others, and had more time to collect things. I can understand that with how mercenary SS has become that newer players feeling that it's unfair that others have more than they do.
It being in response to lost data is absolutely not a good thing. I don't think anyone would say that the chaos that happened unplanned was a good thing. I do think a lot of newer players wanted a reset because that's been a trend, a gossip going round "when are we going to reset".
Personally I lost builds from both myself and friends, some of which aren't on the server, and I'm not in contact with anymore. I don't have pics, because I had issues with my laptop and lost the screenshots I did have. I lost everything I'd won in the one and only competition I've ever won in MC... one of the only ones I've ever won period. For me it was more about those things, and it wasn't about dia blocks I did or didn't have. It wasn't that I've never gotten a guardian rod, or lost my super compass. It was about mass confusion, and for some hysteria, as well as lost memories that I've got no back ups for.
There are a lot of younger players on and I'd encourage everyone not to put another person down. There are reasons why some players are upset with a reset (which I believe has more to do with the unplanned confusion and lost data than anything), and players that are happy about it. Saying there's no reason to be upset is like... telling a person with home insurance "Oh don't be upset your house burned down, you have money to buy a new one". IRL a house with everything you own being lost is more traumatic than MC (at least for me) but can you see how saying that it's no big deal and better now can be upsetting?
The data loss shouldn't have happened. It was a breach of trust for me, and I believe for others, that the backups weren't the way they should've been. I'm not here to beat a dead horse or make people upset. Let's honor the fact that the way it was done was not a good thing, even if having a reset was a good thing for some. Let's see the difference between a planned reset and an emergency response to get the server back up asap.
I really don't know how to respond to players who dislike me just because I've been playing since 1.8... I had a supercompass. I had some oxiclean. I also helped out players who needed it. I really don't like how some newer players want things taken away just because they don't have it. It makes me very sad to see the kind of infighting that had been going on, and I'm hoping that with the new reset players will be nicer to each other and not hate other players just because they have something you don't.
Lets respect others, and learn not to put others down just because they feel differently.
