So I was disappointed to find that my smelter was not allowed today even though many mods had seen it before, so I think there should be a Redstone Rules Thread to state all of the redstone rules on this server so that in the future things like this do not happen

Yes, even though I'm leaving, I will definitely use one in the future if there was one.

Hi! I apologize for the delayed response. After bringing it up with my teammates, redstone rules will be in the works and released upon completion. Thank you for your suggestion.

I found that my five oven auto-furnace had been disabled and I assumed by a mod. I went to the forums and couldn't find a rule, so I re-enabled it. I may have received some chat messages about it, but I don't read chat (low signal to noise ratio). A sign or a forum message identifying the mod would have been nice so I could have understood the reasoning.
As for the rule itself, I can't see the how this is any worse than ten item sorters. Unfortunately, removing automation will probably just result in huge stacks of furnaces all going at once, so unless you're going to restrict the number of (active?) furnaces in a chunk, you're probably going to just be changing the mechanic of the problem, not fixing it.
I hope that the result will be that auto-furnaces are permitted on a small scale. I've got a lot of lava to burn off.
And a note of some kind when a mod messes with my claim would be nice. Discussion and education create far less drama than the ban hammer.

We limit super smelter to 14 furnaces.
If any machine involves a clock of any type you must be able to turn the clock off. And that clock must be turned off when you are not in the area, or if you go offline.

I think you should be able to make flying machines as long as they stop at some point

Updating this thread:
While I originally mentioned we might release the new redstone rules with the new map, due to our current volume of work to be done, we'll have to wait a bit until it's released.
That said, here is the list of proposed changes that are under evaluation:
- Super smelters; - Sorting systems; - Flying machines;
Auto-farms will still be no bueno, as always.
If you have more suggestions, please make sure to contribute!

I think that by banning auto farms your causing more lag because what's happening is players will have to create crazy big farms to get enough items so when they semi-afk at the farm it will be worth the wait, but it causes a lot more lag to the server with a player constantly activating a giant farm rather than having a small auto farm.
This next point is just my opinion but I think we could increase the spawn rates of hostile mobs and give passive mobs No-AI, I personally don't ever play with or use animals but this is up to other people too.

I think auto sorters in a moderate amount should be allowed. The sorters probably won't even be running most of the time, and will often be in unloaded chunks anyways. The only thing that really lags servers is huge mob farms that go haywire (e.g. guardian farms that break and have tons of mobs bumping into each other in a small hole).

well then can't we add the plugin that stacks the mobs to one mob with a nametag of like x(amount of mobs in the mob) so when you kill it another one appears until it goes to 0 that way mob farms won't lag the server. It's like that plugin on factions

It's like that plugin on factions I think that would be against the semi-vanilla tag. Plus it's very glitchy and a pain to set up correctly. I speak with experience here.
