No, cause a commotion. That's the whole point. If more people are aware of what's going on, then we can get this under control and go back to being the friendly server that everyone loves. But I think also, in addition to this thread, we need to be more proactive ingame as well. Start stepping up for people when they're being picked on. Bring it to a mod's attention if you don't want to get directly involved. Edit: And the thought just occurred to me. If I have ever picked on anyone and made you feel bad, I profusely apologize, and you can message me also if I owe you an apology. I am a mom by nature, and making people feel bad is not my thing. I do tease occasionally, but I can understand how my sense of humor falls flat with some folks.

I have an honest question though. What do we as players, if someone is being picked on by a Moderator?

You say something to another mod. Make a report, send a message if you're not comfortable making a public post. (My suggestion is to make note of time and day so that logs can be checked.)

I have an honest question though. What do we as players, if someone is being picked on by a Moderator? Just as Chriiea has said. There's always another moderator to rely on during these times. If you see this happen to someone or even you directly, screenshot the incident or copy paste the logs and send them to a moderator you trust via forums. If you think this moderator poses constant problems and needs to be revealed, you can report them publicly.

You cant really report a moderator either the moderator is going to say something else and most people will trust the moderator and it will be fair game the post will be deleted and the moderator will leave without any sort of punishment. You cant fix it thats the way it goes the you cant report a mod they will just say something different.

It's just up to you at that point then. Really though, if there is a legitimate report you have against a mod, please tell another moderator or get the word out somehow. We have to know these things in order to prevent future problems.

Maybe to also keep down the toxic players and help them learn to behave maybe by being more lenient in the giving out of mutes? (as in give out mutes more freely) It is in the rules to respect other players so that rule can start being as heavily emphasized as no xraying and griefing. Even just short mutes to give them a slight nudge to correct their behavior will probably help.

The toxic players you refer to are a bit more difficult to handle than it seems. In most cases, the things said are awful, but only because they're simply a nuisance. If we were to hand out mutes for that, moderators would be called "power abusers" amongst other things.

Maybe clear chat more often? Would that work? Then just make a dark red text msg telling them to respect each other or something similar? Idk if you mods already do this as I haven't been on in a bit due to school.

Maybe there could be a different class of mods. A group of mature people who can mediate chat and guide people to correct behaviors. Maybe give the selected group a badge, like a real title of authority that people listen to.

The number of mods on at a time are few enough as it is without fragmenting them further, and everyone should respect anyone who has the rank of moderator. Creating another selected group would probably only serve to reduce the perceived authority of the mods not in that group.

I hope I've never hurt someone like this in the game, although it's possible... if I have, feel free to talk to me. I'm glad this was posted and stickied, Aka, because from the last part of 1.8 to now I've seen issues with players being hostile. I wasn't on Skype till the team build, but I'd seen (through posts and comments in-game) that there were issues being brought into the game from other sources like Skype chats and such. I really keep my head down, so often I'm not paying attention to chat, just working on whatever I'm doing, but even I've noticed a difference. I like all the suggestions here, because brainstorming different ideas will be helpful to answering questions and helping players know what to do in the future if they see (or are targets) of an attack. I want to point out that you have no idea of what the person on the other side of the screen is feeling/doing. This is dangerous in that it's possible to have a predator online, but also it could be someone who's depressed. Just because someone's playing an online game doesn't mean they're not depressed. Do you really want to say something that will make a depressed person WORSE? I do believe there are times when chat isn't shut down quick enough by mods BUT how many times have players complained that mods are silencing them, not letting them speak? It's a tough thing to do a job that never pleases everyone, that whatever decision you make you're attacked for or accused of doing something wrong. This is me speaking from personal job experience. The sad thing is that prob the players that cause the most trouble won't read this, or aren't on the forums. I just wanted to say I'm proud of this thread, and proud of all the players who have spoken up or offered suggestions. Just because a suggestion isn't feasible doesn't mean it isn't good... all ideas are needed. I hope that everyone who reads this thread comes away with the understanding that EVERY USERNAME is a PERSON. They deserve they same amount of respect that you want given to you. I'm sad players have left due to this, and hope that if we as a community can get this turned around, they might consider coming back.
